Sign-ups through the Better Auth proxy write to auth_users, but the
bootstrap gate counted users — which only mirrors on the first
authenticated call. In that window a second public registration was
accepted on both the proxied sign-up and the native register endpoint.
countLocalUsers now unions users with auth_users (guarded by
to_regclass so backend-only installs still work), and handleRegister
uses it instead of its own inline count.
e2e-verified on a live stack: users=0/auth_users=1 already reports
mode=login and 403s both public paths; internal-token bypass works,
wrong token refused, authed POST /users creates users (201), and the
users mirror still populates on first authenticated call.

Services never claim host ports (PortMappings never populated — traffic
routes via container IPs + Traefik), databases bind ephemeral ports on
127.0.0.1, and any future conflict already surfaces as a failed
deployment carrying Docker's bind error. Nothing to build without a
service-level port config surface.

Canvas nodes were static: servicesQuery had no refetchInterval, so
build → deploy status never reached the node without a manual refresh.
It now polls at 3s while any service is transitional and 15s otherwise.
Deployment history rows link directly into that deployment's log tail
(service detail logs section, with a "show latest" reset), and rollback
now asks for confirmation before firing — it previously fired on a
single click.

PUT /services/{id}/variables replaced every row, and GET masks secrets as
******** — echoing the fetched list back would have overwritten real
secrets with asterisks. The backend now keeps the stored value when a
submitted secret still carries the mask.
Service detail gains a Variables section: add/edit/remove rows, secret
toggle, bulk .env paste (comments, export prefix, quoted values), and
inline validation for empty/invalid/duplicate keys. Parser and validator
live in variable-utils.ts with unit coverage.
Generated OpenAPI types drive the new updateServiceVariables client call.
ROADMAP: Variables UX marked done; per-environment values are already
structural — each environment owns its service instances.

type=database now provisions a managed database via POST /databases
(engine + plan pickers) instead of a hollow service row; template source
navigates to the existing catalog with the project preselected
(/templates?project= now seeds the deploy target). api-client gains
createManagedDatabase + DatabaseEntity from generated schemas.

openapi.yaml: 29 -> 114 paths / 154 operations covering every mounted
route, including root probes (/live, /health, /ready) and /api/agents/*
token routes via per-path servers overrides. Schemas corrected against
the real Go structs (Service, GitProvider/GitRepository/GitBranch,
NodeAgent capabilities/resources, HostMonitoring, UpgradeStatus,
service metrics, project stats); stale source/build_config contract and
phantom ServiceSource/BuildConfig/ResourceConfig schemas removed.
Proxmox handlers are never registered - intentionally undocumented.
api-client.ts: raw wire types now alias generated schemas
(ServiceVariable, UpgradeStatus, HostMonitoring, NodeAgent, Service,
ServiceMetrics, Git*); CreateServiceInput/CreateUserInput use the
generated request types. CamelCase view models and normalizers remain -
they are the frontend contract, not duplication.
Frontend gate green: tsc, eslint, vitest, vite build.
